Huawei P40 Pro series smartphone are officially launched today. The Huawei P-Series are flagship smartphones from the brand and are quite popular. They take on the Samsung Galaxy Series and Apple iPhone in terms of performance and camera. However, last year the company recevied a jolt when they were prohibited to use the Google Serivces in thier phone due to a ban. But the company has overcome it with launching its very own Huawei Mobile Serivices built over Android 10. Huawei has introduced two top-tier variants this ( just like many other brands). This is looking more like a marketing strategy. However, let’s talk about the phones. Huawei P40 Pro phones come with a what it calls a ‘overflow display’ with screen curving on both the edges and with thin bezels. The display has 90Hz refresh rate, 441 PPI brightness and a rather unique 2640×1200 resolution. You get Dual Selfie camera with 30MP sensor and IR sensor ( for 3D face unlock ) present in a pill-shaped notch. The sensor also supports smart gesture which is used to control the phone. There is In-display fingerprint sensor under the screen.

The Huawei P40 Pro comes in Deepsea Blue, Silver Frost, Ice White, Black, and Blush Gold colors. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus comes in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White colors.
The device is powered by the all new Kirin 99- 5G processor. It has new NPU that offers a 460% improvement in performance and a 290% improvement in efficiency. Both the models naturally support SA/NSA 5G networks. The device has 4-layer VC Liquid Super Cooling system. The device also supports latest Wi-Fi 6 technology. All default connectivity options are present in the phone. Both device offers Dual-SIM along with nano-SIM option. Both the device are powered by 4200mAh battery support 40W fast charging. However, P40 Pro Plus supports 40W wireless charging which is a first in the world.

The main difference between the two phones is on the Camera setup. The P40 Pro has Quad Camera setup whereas P40 Pro Plus phone has additional Periscope lens making it a Penta Camera setup.

The Pro Plus is capable of capturing 10x optical zoom, 20x Hybrid zoom, and up to 100x digital zoom. Both the models can capture 4K HDR+ time-lapse videos, 4K 60 fps videos, 7680 fps super slo-mo videos, as well as real-time bokeh videos.
The price of Huawei P40 Pro starts at €999 ($1095) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB variant. This rounds to around Rs 81,000 in rupees. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus starts at €1399 ($1533) for the 8GB RAM and 512GB storage model which roughly translates to Rs 113,400. We can expect the device to launch in India but could take some time.
