Oneplus has enjoyed an overwhelming success for many reasons and one of them is the consistent updates it provides to the devices and keep them up to date with security patches. Today, the Chinese company has announced the OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule which outlines how long devices will receive new features, Android updates, Android security patches, and bug fixes.
In this announcement, the company has clearly mentioned that it will provide support to their smartphones with new features, security patches, new Android versions and bug fixes for two whole years from the date of device release. This promise will keep the company on good terms with its customers who will know for sure that their device will be supported and taken care of any issues. So, the reliability factor will be set among customers. Please note this is one of the factors where Apple shines and does a remarkable job supporting devices which are sometimes even 5-6 years old. The announcement also confirms that there will be an extended 1-year Android Security Patch update done bi-monthly for all the devices.

This maintenance schedule will start immediately and includes devices from OnePlus 3 onwards. Both Oneplus 3 and Oneplus3T will continue to receive regular OTA updates in November this year and the 3rd year time period for security patch update also beginning from this period.
