Earlier this week Vivo teased an image of the phone with finger print sensor on the display. Following this, Vivo has now officially launched first smartphone to sport a in-display fingerprint sensor which is provided by Synaptics. The company says the smartphone is ready for production and demonstrated how users will be able to unlock the device by placing the finger on the display.

Vivo has earlier announced in December that it would be first company to bring out a smartphone with this type of fingerprint sensor setup. Evidently, Synaptics the company responsible for manufacturing the display has given the first batch to Vivo. The optical in-display fingerprint sensors are called as Clear ID as per the company.
Aside the finger print scanner setup, no other details were revealed by the company although it was confirmed the smartphone will be available for purchase early this year. Alex Feng, SVP of Vivo quoted saying below,
“With our efforts in extensive consumer research and long-term R&D investment, Vivo is well positioned to pioneer the development of fingerprint scanning technology. We first presented a prototype of our fingerprint scanning solution at MWC Shanghai 2017 based on an ultrasonic sensor, and have remained committed to realizing our vision for future smartphones. Today’s showcase of a ready-to-produce in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone featuring an optical fingerprint sensor is a big leap forward in bringing consumers this long-awaited, futuristic mobile experience. We are very excited to make it available to consumers soon.”
