Redmi 8 with 5000mAh battery, 18W fast charging, SD 439 launched starting Rs 7,999

Redmi 8, the latest budget phone from the company is launched in India today. Redmi 8 succeeds the Redmi 7 phone and comes with upgraded specifications in terms of battery, design and charging.

However, we feel the processor used is underwhelming compared to its predecessor. The decent Snapdragon 632 powered Redmi 7 whereas the latest Redmi 8 comes with Snapdragon 439. This is comparable to Snapdragon 625 in terms of performance.

Redmi 8 designed as per the trends with presence of notch display at the front along with slim bezel design. The rear of the phone houses the dual camera with LED flash at the center arranged vertically in a glossy mirror finish back. You also get fingerprint sensor below the camera setup.

The major attraction of the phone is the huge 5000mAh battery and it supporting 18W charging. The phone has USB-C port and IR port. The camera setup supports AI with numerous features including face unlock. All default connectivity options such as  3.5mm audio jack, wireless FM radio, IR blaster, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS are present.

The device comes in Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red and Onyx Black colors. The price of the smartphone is fixed at Rs 7,999 for 3GB/32GB and Rs 8,999 for 4GB/64GB variant. However, as part of launch offer you can get 4GB variant for Rs 7,999 for first 5 million units. Redmi 8 goes on sale from 12th October via Flipkart, Mi.com.
