Android 10 officially launched and now available for Google Pixel devices

Android 10, the latest version of the mobile operating system is now officially launched by Google. For the first time, Google has let go off naming its Android version with dessert and has simplified by calling just Android 10. The company has started to roll out the latest version to all eight Pixel phones – Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. 

Apart from the pixel series, the update is available for Essential smartphone and for Redmi K20 Pro, which was recently launched in India. Let us check out the new features and enhancements done in the Android 10 version.

Android 10 Features

1. Dark Mode

Dark Mode is one of the requested feature and has officially arrived. The mode uses true Black to increase the battery life of a smartphone and you can implement this system wide and across apps

2. Live Caption

This feature automatically captions videos, audio messages across apps. It can also caption the media file that user records. We have to see the privacy concern on this feature though to understand it more.

3. Gesture Navigation

Gestures are already available in so many third party launchers and now with Android 10 you will get it in-house thus using the gestures more smooth and fluid

4. Privacy Controls

Android 10 is very focused on privacy and security features. With their new controls, users can get all their privacy settings like Web and App Activity and Ad Settings in one place. Users will also have the option of opting out if ad retargeting and personalization.

5. Location Controls

Now, as user you have the flexibility to setup the use of location in your phone for any app. You get three options – always, never or when the app is in use. Apart from this Google, will also remind you about the apps using the location permission and whether you want, keep it active or not

6. Smart Reply

As the name implies, Google will suggest replies for messages received in various apps also recommends users actions based on the messages that they have received. 

Apart from these you get features such as sound amplifier, focus mode, family link and many more, which helps you to have more control on your smartphone usage and keep connected to your family.

Finally, Android 10 features 65 new emoji’s, including 56 gender inclusive emoji. We can expect more phones receiving the new Android version soon. Check your phone and see if you were notified
