Xiaomi has finally unveiled its new fitness band, the Mi Band 5 in China. This new band will be the successor to the hugely popular Mi Band 4 which was launched last year across the globe. The new Mi Band 5 is now launched in China but by next month the fitness band will reach all other regions including the Indian market. The highlight of the new smart band is the presence of bigger 1.2-inch AMOLED screen , improved HR monitoring and Magnetic charging. Let’s check out the details.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Details

The pill-shaped design of the band is similar to the Mi band 4 but comes with a larger 1.2-inch OLED panel which is 20% more than the last year’s model. The display is scratch resistant with 2.5D glass on top. Another improvement is on the brightness level, the new smart band offers up to 450 nits brightness which is higher than Mi band 5.

One of the new features in the Mi Band 5 is the support for dynamic animated watchfaces. You get more than 100 new animated watchfaces which includes some special ones based on local anime and cartoon characters. Adding to the modes supported already, the new smart band offers 5 additional modes like rowing machine, elliptical machine, skipping rope, yoga, and indoor cycling /spinning. So the total supported modes now is now 11.

In the new Mi Band 5, the Heart Rate monitoring accuracy is improved by 50% with the presence of photoplethysmogram (PPG) biosensor. The sleep tracking also gets the much needed improvement. One of major change in this new device is the introduction of magnetic charger. Previously you need to remove the device from wrist band and charge it separately. Now, with the magnetic charger you can easily charge the band just by connecting the smart ban directly. The battery backup is 14-day battery life and waterproof up to 50 meters.

Just like any Mi Band, you can customize the wrist band colors. The company offers bands in graphite black, deep space blue, dynamic orange, bronze purple, vibrant yellow, light green, dark cyan, and ivory colors. The price of the smart band is set at CNY 189 ( Rs 2,000 ) and NFC version of the band cost CNY 229 ( Rs 2,500 ). It goes on sale from June 18 in China.

As mentioned already, the Mi Band 5 will be launched globally including India next month as Mi Smart Band 5.
