Fortnite on Play Store

In an official statement by Epic Video games, the Game developer detailed why it decided on this :

“Google puts software downloadable outside of Google Play at a disadvantage, through technical and business measures such as scary, repetitive security pop-ups for downloaded and updated software, restrictive manufacturer and carrier agreements and dealings, Google public relations characterizing third-party software sources as malware, and new efforts such as Google Play Protect to outright block software obtained outside the Google Play store.”.

So Epic Video games had no other choice than to succumb to Google and make the game available for larger auidence via Play store. This additionally means Epic Video games should pay Google the usual 30% profit on in-app purchases which was really the rationale why it didn’t record the app on the Play Store within the first place. To conclude, Epic Video games CEO, Tim Sweeney, mentioned he hopes Google revises the 30% tax it collects from developers which he believes is unfair.
