Amazon India Today introduced its highly popular service, Amazon Audible the Audio book platform with a humongous 200,000 books in the country. This is followed by Amazon Prime, Amazon Music, Amazon Alexa and other features like Amazon Pantry which the company has launched in the country in the past one year. To note, Audible is quite popular in U.S where it dominates the audio-book industry with more than 41% share of the market. As per the company, with the growing digital age in India and with mass population this audio-book service will be have a good chance of capturing the market here as well.

The company also plans to expand the collection to regional books to offer more value for money. Some of Audible-exclusive books include Rashmi Bansal, Shashi Tharoor, Ashwin Sanghi, Preeti Shenoy, and Ruskin Bond.
The official launch of Audible was showcased in a grand ceremony at Mumbai’s Royal Opera House, where Bollywood heartthrobs Rajkummar Rao, Radhika Apte and Kalki Koechlin read Mafia Queens of Mumbai, a 2011 crime thriller by Hussain Zaidi and Jane Borges.
