Facebook Connect Event Update India

In the ‘Connect Event’ hosted by Facebook in New Delhi, where community engagement efforts were showcased, there were also few India-specific announcements related to Facebook Lite and Camera effects.

Facebook Camera is now getting few India-specific camera effects like Namaste and geo-specific experiences in cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, and other populated locations in the country.

Also, the Reactions feature is now rolling out to Facebook Lite, the company’s lightweight app for Android. Facebook Reactions include Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry types and it was launched last year by the company and will add to the highly used ‘Like’ button.

In a statement, the company said, “India is a very important country to Facebook, and we’re proud to have more than 184 million monthly active people in India who use Facebook to connect with their friends and family, and to build supportive communities online and offline.”
